British GT Championship

For the 2018 motor racing season SWR will enter its Nissan 370Z GT4 car in the increasingly popular British GT4 Championship, as well as continuing to participate in the GT4 European Championship.

For more than 25 years, British GT has been at the forefront of endurance racing and since the development of the distinct GT3 and GT4 series in recent years the category has only gone from strength to strength.

Media and television

British GT has a strong media profile with live television coverage in the UK on the free-to-air Front Runner channel and with key highlights packages screened by terrestrial broadcaster Channel 4 and satellite and cable channels Motorsport TV and BT Sport.

Technical

British GT4 features a variety of automotive brands, including Nissan, Aston Martin, Lotus and Jaguar, with all cars running on Pirelli tyres and with fuel supplied through official championship partner Sunoco.

The relative strengths and weaknesses of the cars are equalised through a special ‘Balance of Performance’ structure, where varying ballast is added to the most competitive in order to provide the most level playing field possible.

Sporting

As befits a championship of its stature, British GT competes at all of the top UK circuits – such as Silverstone, Donington Park and Brands Hatch – with the addition of an annual visit overseas to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

Drivers and teams benefit from two practice sessions each weekend, ahead of qualifying, with some events featuring a pair of one-hour contests, others seeing longer two-hour races and the Silverstone meeting featuring a blue riband three-hour encounter.

Two team-mates share driving duties in a GT4 car and in a one-hour race each has to spend a minimum time of 25 minutes behind the wheel, which increases to a minimum of 60-minutes’ driving time each for the two-hour races.
